A pretty good serger
Date:January 27, 2012
Pros: Good Value, Easy to Use
I have used a serger before and this one performs well. Like others have stated before me, it is a bit loud. The foot doesn't go up very high so when I was sewing 2 fleece pieces, the top piece was actually slipping off the bottom. I haven't tried to rethread it yet, but sergers aren't easy to thread so I'll cross that bridge when I have to. I imagine I'll just knot the colors on and try to pull them through. This was bought as a gift for me on cyber monday and I feel it was well worth the $150.! This one will do fine until I inherit my grandmothers REALLY nice one!

Good for the price
Date:September 16, 2011
We got this machine to test out my using a serger to help with production. So this was purchased as part of my professional studio. I admit it WAS tricky to learn. So many variables at once. But once I got the hang of it, it was easy!
You MUST MUST MUST read the instructions. Its not like a regular sewing machine at all. If you have never used a serger, please realize that it is a different animal.
It is a bit noisy.
We did have to buy thread also, cheap cones from Joannes wont work.

So far so good
Date:September 10, 2011
Pros: Good Value, Easy to Use, High Quality
This is my first serger and my first experience with one. I find it does what it's supposed to do and after the initial learning curve, I find it easy to use. Threading was a little tricky for me at first, but my current machine is a 1940's singer and all new machines are tricky to me. :)
I use it predominantly for rolled hems and it's working out wonderfully. I also use it to serge the edges of linen so it doesn't ravel so terribly.

Commercial Grade Serger
Date:July 9, 2011
Pros: Good Value, Great Features, High Quality, extremely helpful dvd, guide on machine to help you thread it
Cons: a little loud, hard to thread
I really like this machine, and it's my first serger. But as some of the other reviews said, it is a little loud. Threading the bottom compartment is difficult, but everything is color-coded and there is a guide on the machine which is helpful. But they only give you a pair of tweezers to help you get the thread through the tiny holes on the loopers.
The DVD explains everything. There is a lot of repetition in it, but it is a very good guide and made so much sense.
I got my serger off simplicity.com where I found it to be the cheapest. I hope this review was helpful! God bless!

Needs better way to change needles
Date:March 14, 2011
Pros: Good Value
Cons: hard to change needles
The actual sewing does a good job. The threading was not difficult after having a new owner's class from the dealer that I purchased the machine from and practiced a few times and showed me a few of her tips and tricks. I would give the product many more stars just on performance However changing and replacing needles is way too difficult. I have spent my entire afternoon attempting to replace a needle and the machine now sits with three threads. Will try again when ready for more frustration.

Excellent serger
Date:October 15, 2010
Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy to Use, High Quality
This is my first serger and I am just amazed by it!! I had been reluctant to buy a serger and now I wish I would've purchased one a very long time ago!! It didn't take much time for the salesperson to explain the basic operation and demonstrate the threading. I highly recommend this serger for it's value and ease of use!!

14CG754
Date:September 30, 2010
Cons: Poor Quality, tension impossible
I have spent the last two days of my life attempting to set the tension on this serger. I have sewn professionally for over 30 years and used many sergers of all brands. My trusty Singer serger finally died and I purchased this one. The bottom looper is almost impossible to thread once the thread breaks without taking the plate off and literally after two days still have not been able to set the tension to any acceptable level on polyester satin. I'm afraid this one will have to go back.
