Received My machine today and have already made curtains for the den, a pillow case dress, and a set of pjs. I believe that the problems people are having is because they have not read the manual or use other non Singer accessories, could not be happier with this machine.

Pros: Good Value, Great Features, Easy to Use
Cons: it's not the 2001 model
I brought this machine for my daughter 3 years ago. It still work like new. We haven't had any problems as of yet. I use hers' more than I use my more expensive model machine

Loud and clunky
Date:January 4, 2011
Pros: Great Features, Easy to Use, great needle threader
Cons: Poor Quality, Expensive, loud, clunky
I will start off with a positive side to this machine, I found it very easy to use and operate, and does have plenty of features on it, the needle threader is extremely simple to use.
What I do not like about this machine is that it is very loud and has a clunky sound to it, but what I like least of all with this machine is when you let off the foot pedal the needle automatically goes back to the up position which makes it a pain when I want to pivot because I always have to turn the hand wheel to get the needle back down,
Another thing that I am disappointed with is the "Quilters Foot", it would be nice if it had a seam guild built on to it like other manufactures offer.
I have a 1940's Singer (15-90) machine, I usually use it more mainly because it's a smooth and quiet machine.
I may consider trying out CG-500 later on this year and see if I can trade in this Touch and Sew 7462.

poor performing machine
Date:November 16, 2010
The machine was used only a few times and then quit entirely bobbin rewind operation. When tried to find a repair facility was told by many service shops that they no longer worked on Singer products. The machine was quite easy to use, is light for carrying, and has lots of nice extra stitches available but bobbin doesn't hold a lot of thread and rewind operation, while easy, is not convenient due to its necessary frequency. Also, the machine doesn't handle heavier material like denim, in even single thickness, at all well.
